Top 10 2008 movies

1. The Dark Knight.
Thanks for the memories Heath Ledger, we miss you already. Your were so good you stole the show from Christian Bale - best Batman ever and just a little more super in the superhero department than Iron Man.

2. In Bruges.
A stand alone standout and an early entry onto my top ten list for 2008 - one that never got usurped until the Bruce Wayne comeback.

3. Frost/Nixon.
In a year with a few stellar biopics like Milk Frank Langella and Michael Sheen do superb justice to their characters that were 1970’s household names.

4. The Visitor.
A quiet movie with moving performances in a year of award worthy moving performances in movies like The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Rachel Getting Married, Happy-Go-Lucky, and Frozen River.

5. U2 3D.
Not only a stunning documentary but a musical event in a year with musical events like Mamma Mia! and stunning documentaries like Man on Wire, Steep and
Gonzo: The Life and Work of Mr. Hunter S. Thompson.

6. Slumdog Millionaire.
The emerging country of India is emerging as a backdrop for movies like Amal and this golden charm.

 7. Priceless.
A French import worth the price and the subtitled standout against fellow Gallic brilliance I've Loved You For So Long and Tell No One not to mention The Band's Visit and Under the Same Moon.

8. Ghost Town.
A spirited comedy thanks to Ricky Gervais in a year with a lot of laughs thanks to films like Sex Drive, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Tropic Thunder and The House Bunny.

9. RocknRolla.
Guy Ritchie, welcome back to your roots of gritty intrigue, muscle and gunplay that was a staple this year in great movies like Quantum of Solace, Body of Lies and even Gran Torino.

10. Let The Right One In.
This sweet-ish Swedish vampire movie edged out the similar Twilight on this list just because it is such a surprisingly delightful treat.
