RED

RED in DC comic world is a CIA operative who is Retired, Equipped and Dangerous. Falling into this category is Frank Moses (Bruce Willis) - although unrecognizable to the fans of the original graphic novel. He’s entering his golden years in a Cleveland tract house and so activity challenged that his only source of stimulation is kibitzing with Sarah Ross (Mary-Louise Parker) who does phone support out of Kansas City for Frank’s pension provider. Frank is rattled out of his sleepy retirements by a hail of bullets from a squad of black clad special ops the very day he’s decided to hop a plane to meet Sarah in person. He ends up making a far less charming rendezvous than he wanted because he fears that if bad guys want to kill him they’ll also want to dispatch a lose end like her. Although Sarah has a thirsts for romantic adventure she’s extremely reluctant to go on the lam with Frank while he gets to the bottom of this assignation attempt so with a kidnapped Sarah in tow Frank criss-crosses continental USA hooking up with old operations friends Joe Matheson (Morgan Freeman), Marvin Boggs (John Malkovich) and eventually a woman called Victoria (Helen Mirren) thanks to Ivan Simanov (Brian Cox) a former adversary. Their mission is to find out why agent William Cooper (Karl Urban) heads an off the grid assignment to wipe out a litany of REDs. Does it really have to do with Guatemala in the 80’s and an underworld kingpin named Alexander Dunning (Richard Dreyfuss)? Maybe, but for sure these REDs are Really Entertaining Dudes.
